Here is a way in which Amberley, Waiora and Alayna used their multiple intelligence of singing to help them remember what they have learnt in our earth science- Earthquake topic.

"Rachel Rays Cooking show"

Today i did my speech on my cooking talent. I pretended it was the Rachel Ray cooking show. I even had a microphone and a sign! I told the class how to cook Weetbix fudge. Everyone loved it!! They loved it soo much they wanted to know how to make it.
Here is the recipe:

6 Weetbix crushed up with your hands
1 cup of Sugar
3 cups of plain flour
1 cup of coconut
3 Tablespoons of cocoa
Half a pond of melted butter (250 grams)
1 teaspoon of Baking powder

Mix it all together in a bowl, then press the mixture into a greased tin.
Bake for half an hour on 180 degrees in the middle of your oven. Once it has cooled down, ice it with chocolate icing and sprinkle some coconut over the top.

In maths we have been learning how to plot coordinates.
We Created alien masks, by plotting the coordinates then joining them up. It was a fun way to practice what we had learnt.

WELCOME BACK!!

I hope you all had a great holiday! We have an exciting term ahead of us!

Homework has come home today and you may have noticed that the format has changed. A sheet has also been handed out alongside to explain it. Spelling will be given out each Monday and tested on Fridays as usual, however the children are given 2 weeks to complete the rest of the sheet. It is important that parents/ caregivers sign once an aspect/task is completed. This is an exciting change; I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

A huge THANK YOU to all the parents and children who donated goods for our fun fair! It was a great success and I am sure the Mary Potter Hospice will appreciate the $521.50 raised towards getting their new roof!

This Coming Wednesday we are Having a FUN FAIR our Rich Task At the moment is volunteering! For the FUN FAIR we have to bring in food that we have made.
All of these items will be sold to the kids in our school and then we will donate the money to a local Charity there were 3 Choices 1. Ronald McDonald House 2.Wespac Helicopter 3. Marry Potter Hospice :)

Pinger fun afternoon

We had such a great time on our last pinger fun day of term 1. Some children choose to play outside fun games, like flag attack and prison ball and others chose to do inside games and arts and crafts. Check out the slide show to see how much fun we had!!

Hey,
Today we had Mr.Mason as our teacher because Miss curac is Sick!!!
After Morning tea we had our buddies session where we had to make a flower picture using hot or cold colors ,And the other day on Wednesday this lady came in to teach us about art!!! We had to draw a kiwi, pumpkin and a bag!!! We had a lot of fun doing the art I will hopefully get a few pictures that the other children in my class did!!!

****** FUN DAY ******

Last Friday our hard efforts were rewarded. We were able to take part in a fun day if we had worked hard to earn 1000 Pingers. We went down to McLean Park. Some of us took our scooters, skateboards and even our rollerblades down. Some of us just played in the park. We had such a great time...in the rain!

Today we were lucky enough to be able to watch a show! Marty came to our school to talk to us about bullying. He told us about some of his experiences and even showed us some magic tricks. He really did make us laugh! Its cool to be kind!

Hi,
today we had our fun afternoon,We Went to the skate park and to the play ground at McLean park.We were going to go to the beach but it started pouring with rain!!!
We had to walk all the way back to kenakena school in the pouring rain.
We all got soaked with water but we all had a lots of fun.
Me and a few of the girls and boys found hideouts one was the girls hideout and one was the boys hideout I sneaked into the boys hideout we they left and hid!!! We had a lot of fun playing in the bushes!!!

Hi,
today we did gymnastics unfortunately my teacher forgot to take the camera but she will hopefully remember to bring it another time.
Today in maths we did a summery of what we have done in place value and then we did some work for a abacus on the board!!!
Then after morning tea we did a story of what we like to do or our favorite food etc.
After we had done some of it we had to rush from our class to the bus.The teacher got us to ack like solders going to our buss(but most of us ran so we could get our favorite seats)At gym we did fount supports. Back supports etc. We also jumped into the pit that is most of ours favorite activity in gym.
After lunch we played a few games we played a game called if you love me honey give me a smile. and we also played I said a boom chicka boom boom,we all played and had a really fun times.

Hi ,
Sorry about yeasterday I had to learn how to work this site. But now I will tell you what we did yeasterday.
We went swimming afer morning tea but at maths we did partitioning
Partitioning is when you get a number say 5667 then you have to breack it up like this
5000+600+60+7 so that equals 5667. After lunch for our topic kia kaha we did a sumary of what we have learn from that topic,then we did a Brain storm of what makes you a successful learner.

Now let me tell you more about swimming, to see photos cheek out the awesome slide show that my teacher put on yeasterday.My teacher rockz!!!!!!!
We practiced our strokes such as Breast stroke,freestyle and we did dolphin dive.We all had fun in the pool we love making whirl pools and playing stuck in the mud at the end of our session in the pool we quicky wait some of us do it quicky lol.then we get dreesed and came back to class.

Today was the first day we really go to know our buddy classes room 10 and room 4.

We look forward to all the different activities that we will do together throughout the year.

Kia Kaha! Stand Strong!

As part of our topic 'Kia Kaha' we have been aiming to create a community where everyone feels safe, respected and valued, and where bullying is not tolerated.

Today the students performed plays about bullying. In groups they needed to identify what bullying looks like, where it may happen and have a practical strategy for dealing with the bully (or bullies).
